Description

Jam Puff Pastry Tarts are a quick and easy dessert made with flaky puff pastry, sweet jam filling, and a golden, crunchy sugar topping. Perfect for entertaining or a simple treat at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup mixed berry jam (or jam of choice)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for dusting surface)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the puff pastry sheets to approximately 10–11 inches square.
  3. Cut each sheet into 9 equal squares (use a ruler for precision).
  4. Prick each square gently with a fork to prevent over-puffing.
  5. Working in batches of 3, place 1 teaspoon of jam in the center of each square.
  6. Brush the edges of the squares with beaten egg to help seal them.
  7. Fold the corners of each square into the center and twist to seal.
  8. Brush the tops of the tarts with more egg wash and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
  9. Bake for 15–20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  10. Remove from oven and gently reshape any opened corners while still hot if needed.
  11. Allow tarts to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving — the jam will be very hot.

Notes

  • Do not overfill the tarts with jam to prevent leaking.
  • Chill the assembled tarts for a few minutes before baking if the dough becomes too soft.
  • Use parchment paper to make cleanup easier in case of jam overflow.
  • These can be frozen before baking and cooked from frozen with a few extra minutes.
