Description
Jam Puff Pastry Tarts are a quick and easy dessert made with flaky puff pastry, sweet jam filling, and a golden, crunchy sugar topping. Perfect for entertaining or a simple treat at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup mixed berry jam (or jam of choice)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar (for sprinkling)
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (for dusting surface)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the puff pastry sheets to approximately 10–11 inches square.
- Cut each sheet into 9 equal squares (use a ruler for precision).
- Prick each square gently with a fork to prevent over-puffing.
- Working in batches of 3, place 1 teaspoon of jam in the center of each square.
- Brush the edges of the squares with beaten egg to help seal them.
- Fold the corners of each square into the center and twist to seal.
- Brush the tops of the tarts with more egg wash and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and gently reshape any opened corners while still hot if needed.
- Allow tarts to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving — the jam will be very hot.
Notes
- Do not overfill the tarts with jam to prevent leaking.
- Chill the assembled tarts for a few minutes before baking if the dough becomes too soft.
- Use parchment paper to make cleanup easier in case of jam overflow.
- These can be frozen before baking and cooked from frozen with a few extra minutes.
